About Us

Luca Bonetti Art Conservation is one of the premier art conservation studios in NYC. The studio has a well-established history of conserving modern and contemporary paintings, murals and sculptures, in addition to a long history of conserving American, European and Latin American paintings of the past centuries. Our studio works and collaborates with private collectors, artists’ studios, galleries, foundations, museums, and auction houses in New York City, the United States and abroad. Many of our conservation projects involve working closely with curators to establish and preserve public art for institutions, schools, libraries and religious institutions.
Our studio is comprised of a team of experienced conservators led by David Yanez who continues to uphold the high standards established by its founder Luca Bonetti (1947–2023). We offer a wide range of conservation treatments required to restore and conserve traditionally painted artworks and non-traditional artworks. Other services include examination and analysis, insurance claim assessments, condition reports and treatment proposals, photographic documentation, emergency disaster stabilization, collection assessments and preservation recommendations, and arranging for scientific analysis. Examinations and treatments are carried out both on site and in studio.
Luca Bonetti Art Conservation is the reference conservation studio for the Frank Stella foundation and is a recognized member of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC).
The Space
Located in the heart of Manhattan's Chelsea art district, Luca Bonetti Corp., occupies a space in the historic Chelsea Helmuth Building. To ensure comprehensive and accurate conservation and restoration treatments, the studio is furnished with the most up-to-date examination, diagnostic and treatment materials. Our studio features a reference library, diagnostic equipment, a vacuum hot table, administrative offices and designated storage space in addition to wide north-facing windows that let in plenty of natural light. We have a freight elevator that can accommodate oversize paintings. For larger works we offer onsite examination and treatment, as well as provide our own scaffolding.
